We are a team of lbian, gay, bisexual, transgenr, transsexual, Two-Spir, and queer (LGBTQ2S+) and ally rearchers who foc on. To scribe how experienc such as homophobia, biphobia, transphobia, racism, sexism and ableism impact the health of LGBTQ2S+ people. Although lbian, gay, bisexual, trans and queer intified (LGBTQ) people are as diverse as the general Canadian populatn their experienc of mental health and well-beg, they face higher risks for some mental health issu due to the effects of discrimatn and the social termants of health.

For example, LGBTQ people may experience other forms of margalizatn – such as racism, sexism, poverty or other factors – alongsi homophobia or transphobia that negatively impact on mental health. Due to homophobia and transphobia, LGBTQ inti have been clud the Diagnostic and Statistil Manual of Mental Disorrs (the DSM).
RIGHTS OF LGBTI PERSONS
In 1973 and 1974, due to growg evince and prott, a majory of APA membership agreed to remove homosexualy om the manual. Although homosexualy was listed the 1980 edn (the DSM-III), variatns of the listg remaed until 1986.
