"I always thought the women my muny were so wty and clever," he says. "It was like a wty one-upmanship [between them]. In a lot of ways, they talked bumper stickers." He worried that the real-life Ouiser, a character fed by her cranky and btally hont nature, would regnize herself and take offense, but as women om his hometown began to see the play, "They all said they were Ouiser." "My mother would always say to handle magnolia blossoms refully bee they bise so easily.
