Upon the show’s season two fale, <em>Teen Vogue</em> talked to young LGBTQIA+ people of lor on the show’s impact.</p><div class="Contaer-bkChBi byNLHx"></div><p>“As a Lato, my fay would watch lots of novelas together,” Feri Rogel Yñiguez, a 20-year-old llege stunt Long Beach, California tells <em>Teen Vogue</em>. “None of them had accurate or even posive queer reprentatn. Dpe their love for the show, they took issue wh how Candy’s ath was portrayed and the backstory of her fay beg revealed at her funeral. "We never got the humblg backstory for Candy until after she’s ad, which is problematic bee centers everyone else’s grief stead of hers," Briannah says. "I unrstand that they wanted to shed light on what’s happeng to black trans women Ameri, however, they missed and ma their small problem worse. They also utilized activism to help Blan fight to get her nail salon back. By showg the reali of how the LGBTQIA+ POC muny fought, suffered, and thrived amidst the AIDS epimic, <em>Pose</em> spir new generatns to learn their histori and to fight for their muny today.</p><p>For Andre Law Menchavez, a 20-year-old San Francisn that has worked wh GLAAD and been a ntent creator at <em>Queerspace Magaze</em> the reprentatn that <em>Pose</em> prents is important bee allows younger LGBTQIA+ people to nnect wh characters that mirror their own experienc or spire.</p><p>“She [Blan] se a lot of systematic issu wh our own muny, such as her own discrimatn wh the whe gay muny, and isn’t aaid to tackle them on,” Andre says. “All the work I do my life is to ensure that young queer kids of lor, pecially those who have faced the plexy of beg both Asian and queer, don’t have to face the stggl I once did.”</p><p>Another example of this activism exemplified is Sameer Jha, a 16-year-old om the Bay Area that watched <em>Pose</em> and has worked to make schools safer and more clive wh their non-prof, <a data-offer-url=" class="external-lk" data-event-click="{"element":"ExternalLk","outgogURL":"" href=" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">The Empathy Alliance</a>. Their experienc beg bullied school pelled them to advote for other LGBTQIA+ people by tablishg their school’s first Gay-Straight Alliance, llaborate wh anizatns, like GLAAD, on projects, and to publish <a data-offer-url=" class="external-lk" data-event-click="{"element":"ExternalLk","outgogURL":"" href=" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank"><em>Read This, Save Liv</em></a>, a book that helps teachers create safer classrooms for queer youth.</p><p>For Sameer, <em>Pose</em> shows the power of personal and llective liberatn, “I know that even today people our muny feel differently, but I thk succeedg as a queer person of lor a world hostile to and fightg for change are both valid forms of activism.”</p><div data-attr-viewport-monor="le-recirc" class="le-recirc-wrapper le-recirc-observer-target-2 viewport-monor-anchor"></div><p>Addg, "When we aren't tellg our own stori, they n bee one-dimensnal tal of tragedy and spair. <em>Pose</em> not only giv reprentatn of wrers, actors, and crew but also shows the range of the queer person of lor experience.
