It's temptg to nnect the dots.</p><p data-no-id="12" class="css-aeyldl et3p2gv0">In a muny historilly mired ep shame, Tom Of Fland tght many to be ferocly unashamed, to appropriate the uniforms of their opprsors to products of subculture, to out-male the men who told them they weren't enough. That shame endur. Homosexualy was still classed as a mental illns until 1981 Fland. And, hyper-masculy has bee somethg of an overarchg standard gay ialism: that to be any lser is to be sub-par, that to be 'straight passg' is a trophy. This nnot be solely placed at the door of Tom Of Fland, says Bengry. Everythg, after all, Tom Of Fland's universe is hypersexualised.
