Happy pride month! here are 22 quotes celebrating the lgbtq community

With June’s arrival, we celebrate Gay Pride Month. It’s a time when the world’s LGBTQ communities unite to celebrate the freedom they have to be themselves. Pride Month also commemorates the anniversary of the 1969 Stonewall Riots that took place at the Stonewall Inn in New York City.

At the Greenwich Village gay bar one evening in late June of that year, the pain and frustration that the LGBTQ community felt reached its tipping point. Police raided the bar and patrons resisted arrest. Meanwhile, a group of bystanders threw bottles at the cops. Ultimately, fights broke out from the community’s pent-up anger, and riots lasted for three days throughout the neighborhood. That first evening sparked the gay rights movement and for decades since, marches have been held and many political groups and alliances were formed to fight for equal rights regardless of your sexuality.

Although much progress has been made since the Stonewall Riots, there is still plenty of work to be done. For example, same-sex marriage only became legal in all 50 states in 2015, more than 40 years after the Stonewall Riots.

Typically, Gay Pride parades are held in June, but due to the coronavirus pandemic, many large gatherings were cancelled this year. However, there are still plenty ways to educate yourself and commemorate Pride Month.

Here are some quotes to celebrate the LGBTQ community, this month and every month. After all, love is love, and it will always prevail.

We will not go away with our issues of sexuality. We are coming home. It is not enough to tell us that one was a brilliant poet, scientist, educator, or rebel. Whom did he love? It makes a difference. I can’t become a whole man simply on what is fed to me: watered-down versions of Black life in America. 12. simon nkoli – equal rights activist

”I am black and I am gay. I cannot separate the two parts of me into secondary or primary struggles. In South Africa, I am oppressed because I am a black man and I am oppressed because I am a gay man. So, when I fight for my freedom I must fight against both oppressions… All those who believe in a democratic South Africa must fight against all oppression, all intolerance, all injustice.”

Lgbt leaders: forces of change

The fight for positive change and equality is far from over. These quotes from LGBT leaders address many aspects of the LGBT experience: from the strength needed to survive in a hostile world to the power of community.

This list of quotes isn’t exhaustive. There are many other LGBT leaders in the community that also deserve recognition.

Simply the act of coming out to friends and family is enormous. Hopefully these quotes bolster your strength and remind you that hundreds, thousands, and maybe millions of people have your back. I certainly do.

These inspirational quotes in honor of pride month are certain to brighten your day.

LGBT Pride Month, observed in June, is celebrated around the U.S. with parades and activism events. At the same time, many people do not know Pride Month’s origin, which honors the 1969 Stonewall riots–a demonstration which blazed the trail for activists across the country.

In 1970, the first Gay Pride marches took place in New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco. There has been a lot of progress since then, but LGBT advocates are still working toward a future without discrimination in the workplace and beyond.

Here are some powerful quotes from changemakers who are have contributed to the movement for LGBT equality:

Yes, ‘Marriage is about love, not gender.’ I love that quote. All of these are amazing and inspirational. Thanks! If it’s okay with you I want to post some other powerful gay and lgbt slogans I found that I’m sure everyone would enjoy here.

I believe marriage is between a man and a woman. I am not in favor of gay marriage. But when you start playing around with constitutions, just to prohibit somebody who cares about another person, it just seems to me that’s not what America’s about. Usually, our constitutions expand liberties, they don’t contract them. Barack Obama

Yes, you are right about the second part, but if you’re homophobic, my fellow human being, you can keep that to yourself. Face it, it just isn’t cool anymore. It just isn’t. And I can justify that.

Is it because your religion says it’s wrong? Well, you’re not the Prophet of your religion. If you are Christian, I have even more to say to you. The Bible also says no mixed fabrics, no mixing dairy and meat (hence no cheeseburgers), no Chuch for 66 days if you gave birth to a girl and no sitting on the same seat tht someone on their period sat on.

Is it because they can’t reproduce? What about all the straight couples who use birth control pills and don’t want to have any babies for the rest of their lives?

You have to live your life the way you want to live your live, don’t pretend to be what you are not,JUST FOR OTHER’S HAPPYNESS?(NO)

I am gay and I spent a lot of time pretending just to please my religious parents. But later on I realized that there was nothing wrong with me that I didn’t do anything and that if they didn’t except me that’s their problem.

I’m so sorry you went through that sweetheart my son is gay and we live in SC and he didn’t tell me until he was 17 and I except him for who he is and I’m very proud of my son I told him i will March right along with you baby I could never reject my son for something he can’t control so you be you sweet boy

Your such a good mom we need more people like you😍

Stay strong and Be you! I was lucky enough to have met my Husband when we were 18, fresh out of high school, and my mom found out about me being gay when she was washing my clothes and found a note that we had written to each other while at work, talking about telling the girl we worked with that we were a couple cause she was hitting on both of us. My parents have accepted both of us for the past 25 years. His parents still haven’t accepted us, we never see them, and they live 25 miles away.. So surround yourself with Friends, Friends that’s Become Family/!

We need more parents like you in the world. I love this!! 🏳️‍🌈❤️🥺

For those who use their religion as an excuse to hate the LGBT+ community, my priest (because yes I’m gay and yes I’m a catholic) once said, “You only love Jesus as much as the person you like the least.” Keep that in mind.

I am a devote Christian female with a gorgeous girlfriend. Yes, it says in the bible “thou shalt not lie with a man as of he were a woman” ut it also says “Love thy neighbor” and I HATE people who cherry pick.

Personally, not the biggest fan of gay marriage. However, it is really none of my business. As a Catholic, I try to follow in the footsteps of Jesus. Jesus sat and ate with tax collectors and other people considered to be sinners by the general public at the time. He welcomed them and accepted them, giving them the same love He gave to everyone else, even though it brought Him criticism from the priests, who were considered pure and holy. It is not my place to judge, I leave that for God.

Awesome words. Yess. If the world would just tolerate what they don’t agree with and just leave it up to god. Our society would be much much better. Thank you.

I’m a Christian and I believe in god as much as any true believer does. I pray daily and I give thanks for Another day I get to wake up and see my kids and fiancé. Yes, I’m also Gay, and after being heterosexual and having 3 kids I can finally say I’m happier then what I have ever been being in a heterosexual relationship in the past. It’s not about who we marry, but about what we share under that marriage. Gay marriage or heterosexual marriage at the end is all for the same thing. To LOVE, and to HOLD, To be COMMITTED to one another, through THICK and THIN, SICKNESS AND IN HEALH till death do them apart. I find that as blessing from god when you find that person to share your life with. Regardless of what it is man or women. AMEN!!!!

I’m not a fan of homophobes, but thank you so much! You are the best type of homophobe! Thank you so much for at least having tolerance!😊

I was motivated by this , my favorite one was . marriage is love , not gender i’m part of the LGBTQ comunity , but i do not like to share what my part is . anyway i love these quotes , and hope you do more !!

I want to show my parents the one about mocking your children when mocking gay people because they have done that to me but I’m too scared to because I’m in the closet.

I don’t know when you posted this, but take your time. You’ll still have the satisfaction of doing that when you are ready, but you’ll also know you did it for the right reasons (not like I’m trying to tell you what to do here – just some help from a gay person who was in a similar place). When I came out I told my family a quote I had seen earlier on a pair of pyjamas. It was an acronym for LGBT (I know there are more letters but that was just this acronym) and it said “Life Gets Better Today”. Just thought you should see that. Good luck! 🙂

I don’t know if any of the people who are gay were female… but I’m a girl, I’m gay… and I came out in a (luckily) very accepting family. If yours isn’t? Be you anyways. You can’t change. Emphasis on CANT. So be you, whoever that is. Your parents aren’t parents if they can’t accept you.

I’m a 14-year old Panromantic Polyamourous Heterosexual, to be specific. my dad says lgbtq+ is fake. I’m also suicidal and disassociative. lets break this down. according to my dad I’m fake according to my mom I’m faking DID yet I get in trouble for looking for acceptance online.

If you think it’s not fake, it’s not fake. The end.

The one about A lot of parents will do anything for their kids except let them be themselves,is totally my parents.I’m 17 and when I told my parents that I was bisexual, my mom told me that I was not that that’s a lie directly from the pit of hell.I’m told all the time from my family that I’m going to hell. My dad tells me that that girl on girl sh- – ain’t cute and he’s not ok with it. My brother calls me a faggot and my whole family has been sure they know how they feel about me being bi. I hate it and I hate how people treat me and other LGBT+ people. People just need to grow up and get over themselves and quit looking for reasons to hate people for being bear-magazine.com’s kind of funny how people tell you to be yourselves but then when you do, it’s a problem.

If people hate homosexuality, then why do they talk about it all the time?

It is because ppl hate homosexuality that we talk abt it all the time. If ppl didn’t hate homosexuality in the first place, we wouldn’t seek for acceptance, approval & love and talk abt it all the time.

I’m 12 and I’m a lesbian. I have one mom who’s homophobic and a dad who’s perfectly fine with it since his cousin is gay. I found this really helpful and inspiring when it said,”All parents should be aware that when they mock or curse gay people, they may be mocking or cursing their own child.” Thank you for whoever made this post and the people that came up with these quotes. I just wish that we could all be treated equally no matter what.

Gays are just the best people in “My” world❤️💯I have 3 gay friends and they showed me what happiness is and I seem to be into girls although I’m scared to come out of the closet…After reading those quotes it made me realise that I should live my life the way I want and not care what people are going to say .

hi all, i think everything that was said up top is right and that is because i have a gay uncle

omg, m aunt mocked lgbtq right in front of me and ithought i was gonna cry right then and there. im genderfluid btw

Being straight is normal and hard-wired into our brains by our Creator. Therefore, one need not “choose to be straight”, it is the natural course of things. Homosexuality is a sin, just like any other sin. Adultery, stealing, lying, coveting, etc., are all sins and EVERYONE sins. The biggest difference is, most know they sin, they just may not care. Then there is the LGBT Community that insist that what God Himself called a sin, isn’t a sin. And homosexuality IS A CHOICE. You may be born with a predisposition towards homosexuality, just like others may be predisposed towards other heterosexual sexual sins, but YOU decide whether you will go down that path or not. And yes, there is victory over this or any other sin, if a person truly wants to get right with God and live as He instructs. FYI: God, the Creator, (also known as Yeshua/Jesus in the New Testament) created man and woman and said “For this cause shall a man leave father and mother and shall cleave unto his wife.” ANY sexual activity outside the bonds of matrimony is sin. And seeing that in God’s eyes the only real marriage is between a man and a woman, all other sexual relations are sin. And YES, Jesus did speak about homosexuality: Matt. 19:4 (Don’t forget, it was Yeshua, Jesus who did the creating, it was Jesus who gave the Law to Moses, and it was Jesus who gave the Sermon on the Mount.)
